It amazes me too, Millan, that it was luck of food. About vole situation I'm not aware .. Millan, you certainly know more tawny owls than me, wonder if it's usual for them to race only one chick?

Hi, Annie, what I have undertsand it is straight in correlation only with voles, with food, as the nesting in general. The life is so simple with wild animals, isn´t it...or what could be the rihgt expression..practical...no waste?
By the way in my birdclock is tawny owl famale calling her made at 12 o´clock And I do love it!

Hi, I found an article of BBC News Scotland; They tell, that Scotland's recent freezing winters have resulted in a huge population explosion of field voles across the country.
However it doesn't mean that in the Gardens of Heligan or near there is any vole invasion.
... still amazed..

Millan, the same tawny owl calls by me.

True Millan, it may be just as you said male connection.
No sound either... the live video is however so good, that you can almost hear the voices.
