Clywedogin ainokainen rengastettiin tänään. Poikanen on koiras, paino 1400gr ja rengas 496. Sää on ollut kostea ja sateinen.

Rengastus tapahtui pesässä huonon ja kostean sään vuoksi. Operaatio kesti 30-40 min.

It was a damp, midge swarming type of day today Terry and Vivienne will vouch for that!. But I think I managed the ringing really well.
It was too damp to remove the chick from the nest to ring him and while I wanted to go up with Tony (try and beat my fear of heights). I decided the best (and safest) option was to let the operator and Tony go up.
They would do it quicker without me. I just gave them some paper to give the lens a wipe, a box to put the eggs in oh and my camera (with a quick tutorial on how to use it) to take the ever so important pictures of the chick sporting his new ring.
Both parent birds flew around above us while we were there, constantly calling to the chick, reassuring him that they were still there. They never went far away during the whole time.
We were fairly quick, and was done within around 30-40 minutes. By the time we got back to the gate both parents were on or near to the nest.
