It is so sad about the Mom Eagle.

Happy that Dad is already fed the chicks and the chicks are, fortunately, even in such a big already. ... They says however that a month has to go...

It will be interesting see if dad at Norfolk eagles can bring up the eaglets on his own.

Ollie the osprey at Loch Garten did so at Loch Garten in 1993.

George the peregrine did so in Canada in 2000.

Most spectacularly Pa the peregrine did so at De Mortel in 2007 hampered by the attentions of a love sick female who kept stealing the prey.

I am not here to answer questions right now but wanted to post that Dad has brought in a fish at 6:40 a.m. EDST. He did not start feeding immediately but waited, as if expected the female to return and feed. He has now started feeding.
About 06:50 Dad fed the eaglets, also the youngest!

Eaglets moved from Norfolk nest, headed to Wildlife Center of Virginia.

Ed Clark, Wildlife Center of VA:
A lot of folks were initially upset about the fact that the babies were not left with the remaining parent, but there is more to that story.

Everyone needs to keep in mind that the eaglets will triple in size (and appetite) over the next two months. Their food demands will be enormous, and probably beyond the capacity of a single parent to provide. As romantic a notion as it may be for the male to take over as Mr. Mom, sooner or later there will not be enough food. Eventually the stronger chicks will force the weaker ones out of the nest, or even worse; the weakest chicks may be killed by its siblings. The decision made by DGIF will provided the very best chance that all will survive and be released to the wild.

Ed Clark, Wildlife Center of VA:
As stated earlier, we will be posting regular updates about the babies on both our website, http://www.wildlifecenter.org and on our Facebook page, "Wildlife Center of Virginia". We also hope to have a webcam installed as soon as we can get the infrastructure in place to operate it. On our website has an RSS feed button where you can sign up for automatic notices about breaking news.

Finally, an eaglet update: all three eaglets enjoyed their breakfast fish and were served another for lunch. All are doing well.

:treehug: The nest looks very nice! Hopefully the eaglets will soon get familiar with it
and recover from all big changes happened in their life so suddenly and quickly.

Also today they were all moving at the nest interested and looking around, and decided have a sleep afterwards.
Those blue plates in the nest are dishes served their meals.

The eaglets have got a sunscreen, and they seem to like it. :)

Often I notice to be little worried about the youngest chick, at least if they are three together. So, I was happy to read that the youngest eaglet of them three, is now the biggiest! Hurray!!

NBG Eaglets, May 4, 2:20 p.m.
Today marks one-week since the eaglets arrived at the Center — and life as we know it changed! All three eaglets are doing well today.

There seems to be some “playing” in between naps — the eaglets appear to be enjoying some sticks and feathers that were added to the nest after it was cleaned yesterday.
