NB! The times are always in GMT, unless otherwise noted. GMT is –2 hours compared to normal Finnish time, and –3 hours to Finnish summer time.

22 Sept
During this whole day, only one fix was received on Jukka. At 04 Finnish summer time (01 GMT), Jukka was still in his home range at Mallasvesi in Pälkäne. The next day, the fixes showed that Jukka had started his autumn migration today, but unfortunately, we do not know the exact time.

23 Sept
The first fix of the day came at 10, local time in Latvia, only five kilometres from the border to Lithuania and 546 km from Mallasvesi. For the night, Jukka stopped in a small copse in mid-Lithuania.

24 Sept
During this day, Jukka only progressed 70 km and spent his night still in Lithuania, near the Niemen river.

25 Sept
This day, Jukka covered 97 km. His route went across the eastern corner of Kaliningrad to northern Poland. So far, Jukka has been travelling about halfway between his routes of autumn 2009 and spring 2010: west of his autumn route and east of his spring route.

26 Sept
Jukka continued his trip over the Mazury lake district in Poland.

According to the latest plots Jukka has restarted his migration and has headed South West, continuing his journey through Poland. Looks like he stayed for a while at small lake or fishpond at Kosmin, just North of the town of Groje. Jukka last given location was just East of Maslowice. :smilie_wet_150:

Looks like Jukka is back on the move. Latest plots show he is heading South West and is currently just SE of Wlynice in Poland. I noticed that Nimrod the Scottish male stopped off in France for some days before resuming his migration, he is now in Spain. Male Ospreys seem to take autumn migration at a slower pace than spring :eagle: :ifly:

Well, robbo :mademyday: I saw the same in GE, but couldn`t take any pictures, and wasn`t quite sure.
I think most of all we have been concerned about people in Malta, using their guns as lollypops :?
All the best to Jukka :hearts:

Jukka has just overflown a fairly dangerous area Molly, I think like other countries in Europe and throughout the world there are some people who will shoot at anything. In the UK this autumn 2 Ospreys have been found shot, both were young birds of the year, one a swedish bird found shot in southern england at the start of october  . On a brighter note Jukka should with luck reach his wintering grounds soon.

Jukka has made it across the med and has crossed the North African coast, he is currently plotted in Libya, north of wadden. I wonder if there are many areas of of open water with good fish stocks in this area?

Jukka headed North and followed the course of a river before arriving back on the coast near the coastal town of Abu Kammash. He probably needs to rest and feed up for a while before continuing South, It will be interesting to see if he follows the coastline or deides to head due South over the dry arid North African areas
