Näyttää kuin emo kasvaisi poikasten mukana :laugh: mutta valtavahan se onkin, pituus 60-75 cm, siipien kärkiväli 160-190 cm! (Tarkistin tuolta Etusivulta löytyvältä "Lisätietoa -osastolta".)
Tänne pesäsivulle saadaan melkein päivittäin pieniä videopätkiä joistakin tapahtumista pesällä. Yhdestä sellaisesta on otettu nämä kuvat. Pääosarooleja vetävät Herra Huuhkaja, Frouvansa sekä vanhin pikkuhuuhkajista. Isä tuo rotan poikaselle.

Päivä näytti menevän mukavasti ilman emon läsnäoloakin. Yksi poikasista kiipesi pesästä oikealle "omaan pesään" - kalliokieleke jatkuukin vielä sinne. Tuonne olisi tainut haluta tuo toinenkin, mutta tila lienee ollut vain yhden kokoinen.
Hello Annie the Eagle owl is very very rare in the UK there are a few known breeding pairs and it is suspected that others may be breeding in Scotland and possibly elsewhere. The Eagle owls that have been found breeding, are thought to be either escapes from captivity or descended from birds that have escaped from captivity. At the moment in the UK there is a debate underway as to whether the Eagle owls should be removed (this means destroyed) as it is being argued by some that they have not occurred naturally and the effect on other wildlife in the UK the owls may have may be harmful. I think they are magnificent birds and hope they stay, i also feel that some of the sightings of owls, particularly in the Eastern highlands of scotland cannot be automatically assumed to be birds that have escaped

Here by Beleef de Lente in Netherlands eagle owl parents have been growing 3 healthy owlets - also that smallest one is well doing now.
In this videolink the owlets are jumping, flapping their wings and doing some flight exercises - in such a funny way - maybe it's their pretty trousers, their perkily flapping wings... everything with them

The owlets of Beleef de Lente are 6 weeks old now. Hard to imagine an egg of about 5 x 6 cm "changes" into such heavy young birds! Males now weigh 1.400 gram, female about 1.700 gram. And ... they keep growing! We weighed some adult birds - male was 2.5 kg, female 3.2 kg!
Enough food

When we ringed the birds, we noted that the youngest was rather thin and light. But it ended well and all three are in good health, meaning the parents manage to bring enough food.
Yesterday evening and last night a rabbit, a large bird and maybe a mouse was brought. Theoretically, a large rabbit is sufficient food for 3 young birds and they won't finish such a prey at once. From time to time we read in the observations that the young owls pick up some prey(remains) from "depot" - from stock. As long as there is stock, things are okay.

At the nest site http://www.beleefdelente.nl/oehoe is a videoclip of yesterday night 10-05: Prooi aanbod op andere.., where a parent bring a prey to the right side of the nest.
They are now 7 weeks old. At 9 weeks old they can fly well. Before that they live near the nest as "branchlings", often they return to the nest. (I read also that if the nest is not safe they can start wander much earlier...)
